MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Police say a school was placed on lockdown and a man has been taken into custody after a report of a gun in an elementary school. No injuries were reported.

Memphis police said officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at Ross Elementary School on Thursday morning.

Police said the caller told them that the father of her children was at the school and advised that the man usually carries a gun in his backpack. Police said the children attend the school.

The man ran away before being caught by police in the rear of the school. A gun was found inside the school. The lockdown was later lifted.

It was not immediately clear why the man was at the school. Police are investigating.
