BOSTON (AP) - A status conference is scheduled for a man charged with kidnapping, robbing and killing a Boston woman and assaulting three others.

The hearing for Edwin Alemany is scheduled for Thursday in Suffolk Superior Court.

Alemany is charged with kidnapping 24-year-old Amy Lord from her South Boston apartment, then robbing and fatally stabbing her.

Alemany has pleaded not guilty and is being held at a state psychiatric facility. His lawyer says Alemany has mental health issues and plans to use an insanity defense.

Prosecutors say Lord, a Wilbraham native and Bentley University graduate, was beaten, then forced to use her own SUV to drive to several ATMs and withdraw money. She was then forced to drive to Stony Brook Reservation, where she was killed.

The hearing is expected to be uneventful.
