MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a New Jersey man has been indicted on wire fraud charges for using Department of Defense discounts to ship products though FedEx.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Memphis says Anthony Caruso was indicted Wednesday. Court records don’t show if he has a lawyer.

According to the indictment, Caruso was a former FedEx employee and president of CSA Group, a company that negotiates shipping discounts for its customers.

The indictment alleges Caruso took over dormant Defense Department accounts at FedEx to access the department’s shipping rate discounts. Prosecutors say he sent CSA customers’ goods via FedEx through the department’s discounted rates.

Prosecutors say Caruso charged rates that were lower than the customers could obtain on their own, but higher than the actual shipping cost, and keep the difference.
