SAN JACINTO, Calif. (AP) - Riverside County officials say a man killed when the paraglider he was flying crashed into the side of a mountain was a 38-year-old Los Angeles resident.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday (https://lat.ms/1wIFAKF ) that David Pearson sustained fatal injuries in the crash near San Jacinto.

The sheriff’s aviation unit, firefighters and paramedics found Pearson’s body Tuesday about 600 feet up the side of a mountain.

Coroner’s officials had to be hoisted from a helicopter to the crash site.

The exact cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
