LAS VEGAS (AP) - President Barack Obama says in a new radio ad that Nevada voters should support freshman Rep. Steven Horsford.

Horsford’s campaign released the ad for the Democrat incumbent in the 4th congressional district race Thursday.

Horsford is running against Republican Assemblyman Cresent Hardy whose campaign was bolstered recently by a conservative group’s large media buy.

Democratic candidates have been reluctant to embrace Obama in their midterm campaigns but Horsford spokesman Tim Hogan says victory hinges on voter turnout and the ad urges Democrats to vote.

Hogan wouldn’t say how much the campaign and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee paid for the ad, which follows a Nevada visit from former President Bill Clinton.

Hardy spokesman Scott Scheid expects a close race and says Democrats are mobilizing because Horsford is in trouble.
