NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities believe an ethnic group may be the target of home invasion robberies in Middlesex County.

Prosecutor Andrew Carey says gunmen have broken into the homes of Asian-Indian families four times during the past two weeks. Family members have been restrained and cash, electronics and jewelry have been stolen.

The latest robbery took place Thursday night in Edison. But it’s not yet clear if anything was taken from the home.

Two home invasion robberies occurred earlier this month in Old Bridge. Authorities say children were in the home during the first robbery, and a resident was injured in the second.

Another robbery occurred Tuesday in South Plainfield.

A spokesman for Carey wouldn’t comment on whether the burglaries are related or if they were committed by the same people.
