CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A photographic retrospective on former President John F. Kennedy by a Michigan photojournalist is coming to a Canton Township arts center.

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill will showcase more than 40 black and white photographs of Kennedy by former Detroit Free Press chief photographer Tony Spina from Nov. 6 to Nov. 30. Spina photographed Kennedy during his visits to Detroit as well as around the country.

Local photographer Jim Aho created the exhibit with help from Spina’s widow and daughters. It will mark the 51st anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination on Nov. 2, 1963.

Spina retired in 1989 after over four decades on the Free Press staff. He contributed to the newspaper’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the 1967 Detroit riots.
