CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - A Chesapeake man has pleaded guilty to a murder that authorities say was gang-related.

The Virginian-Pilot reports (https://bit.ly/1G1Jk00 ) that 22-year-old Devontae McKiver faces up to life plus eight years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 20 in Chesapeake Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and two gun charges Thursday.

According to authorities, McKiver admitted killing 21-year-old Pierre Johnson at the behest of a gang member who thought Johnson had stolen his gun. Court documents say Johnson was duct-taped to a chair, punched and beaten, and burned with an iron before being shot. The documents say at least two other people helped torture the Portsmouth man before he was killed. No additional arrests have been made.
