CHICAGO (AP) - More than 115,000 voters in suburban Cook County have voted ahead of Tuesday’s election, either in person or by mail.

Cook County Clerk David Orr said Thursday the number surpasses early balloting from four years ago. He says there are still opportunities to vote early Friday and this weekend.

Early voting sites in suburban Cook County are open until 7 p.m. Friday. Most will be open Saturday until 5 p.m. and some will be open Sunday until 4 p.m.

Orr says grace period registration has drawn more than 2,400 voters to the early voting sites. That’s an initiative allowing people to register to vote or update their registration and then immediately cast a ballot.

Voters can find the locations of early voting sites on the clerk’s website.
