CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for a Casper man charged with trying to kill his estranged wife by running her over with his vehicle.

Defense attorneys for 42-year-old Clint Webb made the motion in court Thursday, saying they had reasonable cause to believe he was suffering from a mental illness or deficiency.

KTWO-AM reports (https://bit.ly/1DDf2N8 ) Webb angrily objected and extra security had to be brought in to restrain him.

Webb is charged with attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault and property destruction for a confrontation with his wife in late June.

Police say Webb struck his wife’s minivan with his vehicle and then drove around the block and tried to hit her as she stood on a nearby lawn.

Webb is jailed with his bail set at $100,000.
