MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) - A toll plaza in Merrimack, New Hampshire, is being removed now that it’s no longer being used on the Everett Turnpike.

The removal of the Exit 12 Toll Plaza will require periodic ramp closures on Saturday. The northbound off-ramp and the southbound on-ramp will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and there will be message boards to alert drivers to the closures, and provide information on detours.

Toll collecting ended on July 18.

The elimination of the toll plaza was included in the gas tax bill passed by legislators this year.

Some legislators said Merrimack residents were disproportionately burdened by having it - one of several in the community.
