TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Bell has centered his campaign against incumbent Democratic Sen. Cory Booker on returning the country to the gold standard. The policy stems from the notion that the Federal Reserve system has artificially kept prices too low through near-zero interest rates. Booker has criticized the gold standard idea, saying it was debunked in the 1900s.

Here’s a look at how the campaigns’ accounts would convert into gold, which on commodity markets is measured in troy ounces. One troy ounce is roughly equivalent to 1.1 ounces. The price of gold fell $27 on Friday to $1,171.60 a troy ounce.

Bell net contributions: $483,000 - 412 troy ounces

Bell cash on hand: $117,000 - 100 troy ounces

Booker net contributions: $17 million (from Jan. 1 2013, through October 2014) - 14,510 troy ounces

Booker cash on hand: $2.6 million - 2,219 troy ounces
