LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Louisville Zoo is recycling its Halloween pumpkins in an edible way.

The zoo will give the pumpkins to lions, elephants, tigers, bears, gorillas and lions on Friday. The zoo recently finished what it bills as “The World’s Largest Halloween Party!” and hundreds of pumpkins decorated the grounds.

Zoo officials say animal enrichment is an important part of animal husbandry at the Louisville Zoo and promotes the expression of natural behavior.

The animals will be given the pumpkins starting at 10:30 a.m. with the orangutans being the first to get the treat.
