CICERO, N.Y. (AP) - A 28-year-old central New York man is accused of hitting and killing a runner while driving drunk.

Local media report that Vincent Carello of the Syracuse suburb of Cicero is being held in jail on charges with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence of drugs.

He was arrested Thursday night in the death of 37-year-old Summer Rupert-Wozniczka, who was fatally struck while running along the road that morning. Police say she was running with bright clothing and a light.

Carello’s lawyer pleaded not guilty on his behalf.
