LIBERTY, S.C. (AP) - Police in Liberty have charged a man with killing two members of his fiancée’s family.

Police Chief Adam Gilstrap told local media outlets that 32-year-old Benjamin James Pilgrim was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of murder after he was released from a medical rehabilitation center.

Pilgrim also is charged with using a weapon during a violent crime. It was not clear if he has a lawyer.

Police say Pilgrim was wounded in the shooting that killed 22-year-old Houston Chapman and 42-year-old Steven Chapman at an apartment building in Liberty on Oct. 10.

Gilstrap said Pilgrim was engaged to marry into the Chapman family and lived in the same apartment building. Gilstrap said Pilgrim and Houston Chapman had been in a dispute for months.
