MONACO (AP) - Substitute Benjamin Moukandjo scored the equalizer against his former club as Reims drew 1-1 with Monaco in the French league on Friday.

Moukandjo put the teams level 10 minutes from time after Elderson Echieljile opened the scoring in the 20th after connecting with a Bernardo Silva’s cross.

The Reims forward, who scored a last-minute winner in a 1-0 win against Montpellier in the previous round of matches, netted from close range following a swift counterattack from the visitors.

After two consecutive wins, Monaco missed the chance to provisionally move up to fourth place in the standings, ahead of its trip to Benfica in the Champions League next week. The hosts are seven points behind leaders Marseille while Reims climbed to 12th place on 15 points.
