META, Ky. (AP) - Officials with the Mountain Water District in eastern Kentucky say thousands of dollars of equipment has been stolen from a water treatment plant.

Utility management officials say their Douglas Water Treatment Plant in Meta was broken into on the nights of October 23rd and 24th.

Project Manager Grondall Potter told WYMT-TV in Hazard (https://bit.ly/13prKnR ) hand tools were taken from vehicles and wiring was cut from waste water pumps.

Potter estimates the items taken being worth $25,000.

Mountain Water District officials say they will match that, making the total reward $1000.

Potter said the plant is still able to run and the damaged pumps will have to be sent off to be fixed.
