MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Police are warning some residents in Atlanta’s northwest suburbs to lock their doors after a suspect eluded police after a high-speed chase.

Authorities said the man led officers on a 70-mile chase that reached speeds as high as 120 mph late Thursday night.

WSB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1vnAiBW) that the chase began in Butts County, when a deputy saw a Dodge Charger speeding and weaving in the road and gave chase. The pursuit continued all the way to Cobb County, with the driver shutting off his headlights at some points.

The Georgia State Patrol says the suspect crashed the Charger near Interstate 75 and Canton Road in the Marietta area, and then ran off.

Authorities are warning residents in the area to be on guard, as they consider the suspect very dangerous.
