TIPTON, Ind. (AP) - State police say a driver pulled the body of his live-in girlfriend from a vehicle after it hit a tree and utility pole and dragged it into their nearby home in central Indiana.

Tipton County sheriff’s deputies say when they responded to the call of the crash near Tipton, 40 miles north of Indianapolis, just before 11 p.m. Thursday they found 38-year-old Karla Wolford dead on the living room floor. Deputies say 49-year-old Phillip Epperly, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, was inside drinking a beer.

Epperly is being held in the Tipton County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and reckless homicide. Court records did not indicate whether he has hired an attorney.
