LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say they have captured a man who fled a Mason County courthouse after being sentenced to jail.

Officials from Mason and Lake counties said 21-year-old Dylan Hansen of Martin was arrested Thursday afternoon after escaping on foot Wednesday morning. He had been sentenced to 292 days in jail for violating his probation for a domestic violence conviction.

Schools near the courthouse locked down while police searched the area.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole says a deputy received a tip about Hansen’s location Thursday. Authorities arrested him near Baldwin in Lake County.

Cole says Hansen is in custody in the Mason County Jail. No additional charges have been reported. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.

Cole tells WWTV-TV courthouse security protocol likely won’t change because authorities don’t have enough resources.
