VADER, Wash. (AP) - Some residents of Vader would like to change the name back to Little Falls as it was known in the 1800s.

The mayor of the Lewis County town of about 600 says the name change may go to an election, although a previous attempt fell 11 votes short.

The Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1tpit7v ) the name was changed by the Northern Pacific Railway because there was another Little Falls on the line in Minnesota. The railway named the town Sopenah.

Citizens who didn’t like that asked the Legislature to name the town Toronto. But an argument ensued that was settled in a compromise to name the town after an old resident named Vader.

People at the meeting thought Mr. Vader would be flattered, but he was offended and moved to Florida.
