LOVELACEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A small western Kentucky water company is shutting down after the first of the year citing deteriorating conditions.

The Kentucky Public Service Commission on Friday granted permission for the Lovelaceville Water Company to cease operations and abandon its system on Feb. 2.

PSC says that the deteriorating physical and financial condition of the Lovelaceville Water made it impossible to continue operations. The commission says it tried to find another company to service the small Ballard County community but was unable to before handing down the decision.

Customers will have to make alternative arrangements for water service.
