WESTLAKE, La. (AP) - Work on Juniper GTL’s $100 million petrochemical plant is set to begin next week.

Concrete workers are expected to surveying the site in preparation for foundation work.

The American Press (https://bit.ly/1yMNFzj ) reports the company will refurbish a steam methane plant to convert natural gas into synthesis gas, a combination of hydrogen and carbon monoxide used to make products such as methanol and ammonia.

Juniper is expected to hire 26 full-time workers whose average annual salary will be $85,000.

Construction is expected to be completed in November 2015.

SGC Energia will share Juniper GTL’s ownership with the Houston-based Great Northern Project Development, a construction and project management firm, and Calumet Specialty Product Partners, an independent producer of specialty hydrocarbons based in Indianapolis.
