BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) - The superintendent of the Baker School District announced his retirement.
The Baker City Herald reports (https://is.gd/TLhtlW ) Walt Wegener will step down at the end of the school year, shortly before he turns 65. He will leave with one year remaining on a three-year contract that pays almost $111,000 per year.
He tells the newspaper he started thinking about retirement about six months ago. He wants to see the Grand Canyon and also just relax.
