SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - The annual Governor’s Job Fair Network, designed to connect job seekers with employment opportunities, returns to DeSoto County Tuesday at the Landers Center in Southaven.

The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1rcXpfR ) the event is likely to attract thousands hoping to hook up with a new career and a paycheck. Last October’s fair at Landers brought out about 2,200 job candidates and more than 70 employers with immediate openings or with plans to hire soon.

The job fair stop, formerly called the DeSoto County Job Fair but this year officially dubbed the Mid-South Area Job Fair, is part of a larger initiative by Gov. Phil Bryant to promote job growth and economic development in the state.
