SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Springfield police have charged a man who they say shot a man in the stomach during a rap battle.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (https://sgfnow.co/1uUHt9L ) 27-year-old Jered Blair was charged Friday with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Police say he wounded 27-year-old Anthony Turner at a Springfield cookout on Aug. 30. They say Blair shot Turner while several people were taking turns rapping in a group.

Blair faces up to 15 years in prison. He is being held at the Greene County Jail on $100,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately available if Blair has an attorney.
