MALAD, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say a man in custody jumped over a banister at the Oneida County Courthouse in eastern Idaho and sustained serious injuries.

Oneida County Sheriff Jeffery Semrad says the man had just been arraigned on a felony burglary charge on Monday when he jumped from the third floor to the second floor and fell about 12 feet.

Semrad tells the Idaho State Journal (https://bit.ly/1pLPJ4K) that the man was transported to Portneuf Medical Center and on Monday was listed in serious condition.

Semrad says the Tri-County Sheriff’s Association has been asked to investigate.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.
