SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have identified the five teenage passengers killed in the fiery crash of a car driven by a 16-year-old unlicensed driver on a Southern California freeway.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Coroner Division said Wednesday the victims were Jennifer Bahena of Laguna Hills, Jennifer Campos of Aliso Viejo, Matthew Melo and Brandon Moreno of Mission Viejo and Alejandro Sotelo of San Juan Capistrano.

Bahena, Moreno and Sotelo were 14. Campos and Melo were 15.

Authorities say Bahena, Campos and Meo died of blunt-force trauma from the collision. The cause of death for Moreno and Sotelo is pending.

The driver was the sole survivor of Saturday’s crash in which a 1995 BMW struck an Interstate 5 guardrail in Irvine, rolled onto an embankment and burst into flames. He remains hospitalized.
