ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections has approved of Sunday voting ahead of the Nov. 4 general election.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1tBE2Pu ) the board voted Tuesday to allow the county’s elections headquarters in downtown Athens to be open to voters Oct. 26 between 1 and 5 p.m.

Elections Supervisor Gail Schrader has said Sunday voting was expected to cost the county about $1,000 in staff time.

Officials in several other Georgia counties including DeKalb, Floyd and Chatham, have also approved of Sunday voting.
