LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A giraffe at the Little Rock Zoo involved in a fatal fight with another giraffe last year has been relocated to a zoo in Abilene, Texas.

The zoo says its giraffe, Mesi, left for its new home on Tuesday.

Zoo spokeswoman Susan Altrui says officials had already decided to relocate Mesi before the December fight because he was getting too big and aggressive toward another giraffe named Jigsaw. Jigsaw died after a fight with Mesi.

Mesi came to the Little Rock Zoo from the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Park in 2006 when he was barely a year old and had lived there ever since.

He was unloaded Tuesday in an off-exhibit barn where he will be kept until the Abilene Zoo finishes construction on a new $3.8 million exhibit.
