NEW FREEDOM, Pa. (AP) - Mike Waugh, a former longtime state lawmaker who ran the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, has died.

The Hartenstein Funeral Home in New Freedom confirmed Waugh’s death Wednesday.

Waugh was a Republican member of the state House and Senate from York County for 21 years before becoming executive director of the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg earlier this year.

Gov. Tom Corbett called him “the quintessential citizen-statesman.” The York Dispatch said the 58-year-old Waugh died Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

The funeral home says arrangements haven’t been finalized.
