NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A nonpartisan group dedicated to giving average American people more of a voice in the policymaking process has announced a partnership with the University of Oklahoma.

Voice of the People announced Wednesday it is teaming up with OU’s Public Opinion Laboratory and the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center to launch a statewide Citizen Cabinet.

The group wants to create these cabinets at the national, state and district levels and use new online tools to help give average people more of a say in how policies are developed.

Oklahoma joins Virginia and Maryland as the states selected for the pilot phase of the program.

Households across the 4th Congressional District will be receiving letters over the next few weeks inviting them to join the Citizen Cabinet.
