BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Brookhaven man has died in a work-related accident on an oil rig in Lincoln County.

County Coroner Clay McMorris says 22-year-old Chase D. Curtice was working on the rig Monday when he was struck by a pipe. The accident occurred about 9:30 p.m. about two miles northeast of Brookhaven.

Curtice was taken by private vehicle to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, where McMorris pronounced him dead. An autopsy will be conducted.

Curtice was working for Loomis International, a subcontractor for the Texas-based oil and gas exploration company Denbury Resources.

Curtice had been living in Brookhaven for about two years but was originally from Fremont, Michigan.
