GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a 56-year-old man was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while he was panhandling near Greeley.

The Greeley Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1Ew8ovw ) Greg Lanckriet was working the intersection of the U.S. 34 Bypass and 8th Avenue Tuesday morning when he accidentally fell into the roadway and was run over by the truck.

Evans Police Chief Rick Brandt says numerous witnesses had the same account, and the truck driver was not cited.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office says Lanckriet died within seconds of being hit.
