PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say two women have been detained for questioning in the shooting of an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer.

Phoenix police didn’t immediately release the women’s names Thursday night.

They say two men and a woman still are being sought in the shooting early Tuesday near an Interstate 17 frontage road.

A six-year DPS veteran was shot in the face during a traffic stop, but was able to radio for help.

Police say responding officers got into a shootout with the suspects in a west Phoenix parking lot. There were no reported injuries.

The suspects fled in a vehicle, which was found abandoned hours later.

Police say the DPS officer remains hospitalized in stable condition and they won’t release his identity until all five suspects have been arrested.
