HOUSTON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi authorities say the remains of a man missing since August are believed to have been found in an overgrown area just north of Houston.

Police say 72-year-old Willie C. Harries was last seen on Aug. 23 in Houston, and the discovery of human bones dragged up by dogs on Monday sparked a targeted search this week. The remains were recovered Wednesday morning.

Chickasaw County Coroner Andy Harmon tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/1oTHyDi ) the clothing and the remains match and are consistent with the clothing and description of Harries at the time he disappeared.

Harmon says evidence is being sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for DNA testing.
