PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Community College of Rhode Island says its president has pulled out of the running for a job as commissioner of higher education in Louisiana.

The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1rj75Wl ) reports that Raymond M. Di Pasquale (dee-pass-KWAL’-ee) withdrew from consideration. He had been one of three finalists for the job.

He says in a statement issued by the college that given the nature of the position, he felt he had to explore the opportunity.

But he said he decided to stay in Rhode Island.

Di Pasquale says he is proud of the work being done at CCRI.
