LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old student is charged with attempted murder after slashing another student with a razor during a fight at a Lancaster County high school.

Deputies said in a news release that the students were fighting in a bathroom at Andrew Jackson High School around 10 a.m. Thursday when the slashing happened.

Investigators say one teen cut the 18-year-old student several times on the face. The injured student was taken to the hospital. His name was not released.

Deputies didn’t release the 16-year-old student’s name because he is currently charged as a juvenile. He also faces a charge of possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Authorities think no other students were involved in the fight.
