AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - Authorities in the Texas Panhandle say about $25,000 worth of marijuana has been seized during a traffic stop.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports (https://bit.ly/1rilnGB ) a Potter County deputy found five pounds of marijuana Wednesday during a traffic stop for an unreported traffic violation. Thirty-one-year-old driver John Haertsch and 39-year-old passenger Sondra Davis have been charged with possession of marijuana.

The deputy says Haertsch gave him permission to search the Toyota Prius stopped on Interstate 40. He says the drugs were in a suitcase in the trunk.

Authorities say the drugs were being transported from San Francisco to Georgia.

Online jail records didn’t list bond or an attorney for either suspect.
