WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Two dogs rescued as part of a huge dog-fighting bust in Alabama are up for adoption in Waterloo.

KWWL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1sjeZ8E ) the American Staffordshire terriers, named Jax and Luigi, are available for adoption at the Cedar Bend Humane Society. The organization also identifies the dogs as pit bulls.

Jax is 2 years old and Luigi is 1. Luigi was born after the 2012 raid in Alabama, in which hundreds of dogs were rescued.

Many of the dogs were found tethered with no access to food or water amid 90-degree heat.

Many of the dogs were made available for adoption through animal rescue groups around the country.
