SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man who served prison time for a 1995 murder has been arrested in connection with a Scottsdale homicide.

Scottsdale police say 38-year-old Joseph Harris was taken into custody Wednesday night in connection with the death of Janet Dobson.

The 50-year-old Dobson was found fatally beaten Oct. 5 in the bathroom of her south Scottsdale home.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office determined she died of blunt trauma to the head.

Police say evidence at the scene linked Harris to the case.

They believe Harris took property from Dobson and that led to a disagreement over money and a physical confrontation.

Records show Harris served nearly 12 years in an Arizona prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 1995 case. He was released in May 2013.
