NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A New London group has invited young people from Plainfield to audition for a talent show, easing relations between schools in the two cities just weeks after Plainfield fans used racist taunts against New London High School football players.

The Day of New London reports (https://bit.ly/1vQLVDv ) that Susan Connolly, a former New London school board member who is on the talent show coordination team, said the executive director of the Garde Arts Center proposed the invitation to young people from Plainfield.

The New London Youth Talent Show is scheduled for March 14 at the Garde center.

The fight on Sept. 26 was so heated and caused such tension that a freshman/sophomore game between the two schools was canceled. Two former Plainfield high school students were charged with breach of peace.
