WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) - Police say a 41-year-old Connecticut woman has been struck and killed on Interstate 84, which led to the closing of the eastbound lanes for hours.

Kristie Bronson of Naugatuck was in the left lane when she was struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning. Police say the vehicle stopped in the highway’s right shoulder with Bronson trapped beneath the vehicle.

The highway’s eastbound lanes were shut several hours between exits 25 and 25A.

No details were immediately available about why Bronson was on the highway.
