JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - A Jersey City man could be charged with murder after the man he allegedly shot died.

Authorities say 21-year-old Verlance Buddington shot a 34-year-old man multiple times Wednesday morning.

Buddington was initially charged with attempted murder.

But after the victim died later in the day, police told The Jersey Journal (https://bit.ly/ZtRIUL ) that they expected to upgrade charges to murder. Police have not given the name of the slain man.

Buddington also faces charges of receiving stolen property and several weapons offenses.

The Jersey Journal reports he threatened to shoot a freelance photographer who took pictures as Buddington was arrested on Wednesday.
