CRANBERRY, Pa. (AP) - Police have been searching for a man who tried to rob a western Pennsylvania dry cleaners armed with a hypodermic needle.

Jim Fornicola, who owns the Take It To the Cleaners Store in Cranberry Township, says he was leaving to buy something from a convenience store nearby when the suspect entered about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect - who had by then pulled on a ski mask - confronted a female clerk with the needle and demanded money.

When the clerk told him that Fornicola was expected back in the store any minute, he ran away.

Township police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino says police searched near the store but couldn’t find the man.

Cranberry is about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.
