NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Metairie man has been charged with making false statements on income tax returns.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite, in a news release, said 44-year-old Timothy Duckworth was charged Wednesday in a one count Bill of Information. According to the document, Duckworth made false statements on his 2007 tax return by under-reporting his income by about $610,495 resulting in him having taxes due and owing about $213,579.

If convicted, Duckworth faces up to three years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
