NORTH TEXAS (2-3, 0-1 C-USA) at UAB (3-2, 1-1), 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday (Sinclair Network)

Line: UAB by 6 1/2.

Series: UAB leads 1-0.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

North Texas is finished with its non-conference schedule, and a win would put the Mean Green at 3-3 overall at the midpoint of the regular season for the second year in a row. They haven’t been 3-3 after six games in consecutive seasons since 1977-78. North Texas and UAB met only once before, when the Blazers won 19-14 in 1995. This is UAB’s homecoming.

KEY MATCHUP

UAB running backs Jordan Howard and D.J. Vinson vs. North Texas defense. Howard (third at 113 yards per game) and Vinson (ninth at 69 yards per game) make UAB the only team with two of the league’s top 10 rushers. North Texas is second in C-USA in rushing defense, allowing just 142 yards rushing per game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

North Texas: Freshman QB Dajon Williams has started the last two games, and thrown three TDs in both. He is the first Mean Green quarterback with consecutive three-TD passing games since 1994. He has also run for two scores as the starter.

UAB: Sophomore RB Jordan Howard rushed for a career-high 183 yards and two touchdowns in a come-from-behind 42-39 victory at Western Kentucky. He got 132 of his yards in the second half.

FACTS & FIGURES

North Texas is one of five FBS teams, the only one from a non-Power Five league, to score every time inside the opponent’s 20 this season. UNT has scored all 17 times in the red zone, with 14 touchdowns and three field goals. … Mean Green K Trevor Moore is the only freshman in the country, and one of only eight kickers overall, who hasn’t missed a field goal attempt yet. He made it six in a row with his make against Indiana on Saturday.
