NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - State Police have released the names of New London police officers involved in two struggles with a carjacking suspect who died shortly after police said they used a stun gun twice in eight hours.

The Day of New London reports (https://bit.ly/1seUlVV ) that State Police say Sgt. Scott Johnson and officers Melissa Schafranski and Curt Lavimoniere were injured in the incidents with 31-year-old suspect Lashano Gilbert.

Police did not say who used the stun gun.

Gilbert became unresponsive Saturday morning in an ambulance from New London police headquarters to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

The cause of Gilbert’s death is undetermined pending toxicology reports by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police say Gilbert attacked New London police officers in the booking room of the police department, where the three officers were injured.
