NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) - An Ohio man has been charged with killing a western Pennsylvania man who had been missing for about a week before his body was found in the woods.

New Castle police haven’t released details since 23-year-old Corey Phillips, of Youngstown, Ohio, was arrested about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

He was awaiting arraignment Thursday on a charge of criminal homicide in the death of 23-year-old Jahmia Ward, whose body was also found Wednesday in a wooded area just a few blocks from the police station in New Castle. That’s about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh and just a few miles from the Ohio border.

Court papers won’t be public until after Phillips is arraigned, so it wasn’t immediately clear how Ward was killed or why police believe Phillips killed him.
