WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - The planning director for Williams County is stepping down after being stripped of his authority due to department restructuring.

The Williston Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1v4vc2r ) that Ray Pacheco submitted his resignation Tuesday, after the County Commission turned over control of his department to Michael Sizemore, director of the building department.

Pacheco has taken a job with a private engineering company in Williston. He’ll spend two more weeks on his county job, tying up loose ends.

Commission Chairman Dan Kalil says the oil patch county combined the planning and zoning departments to improve efficiency.
